Green group running ads to promote Biden EV policies

Spots running in Michigan are meant to appeal to Republicans skeptical of electric vehicles.

An environmental group is focusing on the key swing state of Michigan in a major advertising campaign to promote electric vehicles and President Joe Biden’s EV agenda as a positive — particularly for Republicans.

EDF Action, the advocacy arm of the Environmental Defense Fund, launched the second ad in its $700,000 campaign this week. It features “Mark,” identified as an Air Force veteran, touting his Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid.

The ad — and one launched earlier this month featuring a Ford Mustang Mach-E owner — was shot in Michigan.

But the audience includes voters in Michigan and viewers in the Washington area, where officials are debating EV policies like EPA’s emissions limits and implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act’s incentives.
