Greens draft playbook for a second Trump term

Environmentalists felt blindsided and unprepared when Donald Trump won the White House in 2016.

They vow they’ll be ready if he wins again this fall.

After fighting against his environmental rollbacks during his tenure, green groups are eager to prevent him from returning to presidency next January. But just in case, they’re already strategizing about how to counter him in the event that he topples President Joe Biden in November.

“We’d be foolish if the environmental community was caught on their heels, as I think maybe we were way back when in 2016,” said Melinda Pierce, Sierra Club’s legislative director.
