A top environmental group is taking its messaging about high energy bills to Republican congressional districts.
The League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund — a super political action committee affiliated with the League of Conservation Voters — is putting $4 million into an advertising campaign targeting “energy bill voters,” the term greens are using for voters whose positions could be changed by messaging that blames Republicans for high energy costs.
The campaign includes the earliest paid advertising the group has done in House elections. It’s an ambitious strategy, with new digital and television ads going in five districts represented by Republicans, and where the GOP incumbent is slightly favored to win in November.
“Voters are angry about rising costs across the board, with energy costs being a top concern for many,” Sara Schreiber, LCV Victory Fund’s senior vice president of campaigns, said in a statement.
