The League of Conservation Voters’ campaign says the vulnerable Democrat is fighting to lower costs, including on energy.

An environmental group is shelling out $1.5 million to help Sen. Sherrod Brown’s reelection bid in the final weeks of the race.

LCV Victory Fund, a super political action committee affiliated with the League of Conservation Voters, launched a new digital advertising campaign Wednesday supporting Brown, an Ohio Democrat, and opposing businessman Bernie Moreno, his Republican challenger.

Brown is one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats in this year’s races, and recent polling has shown him with a slight edge over Moreno, as little as 1 percentage point. The race could decide which party controls the Senate next year.

“In the final stretch of the Election Cycle, voters need to know that unlike Bernie Moreno, Sherrod Brown is standing up for people’s rights and looking out for the health and safety of our communities,” Megan Jacobs, the group’s vice president of paid media, said in a statement.
