Former Interior Secretary Deb Haaland easily won the Democratic primary to be New Mexico’s next governor.

In other key contests, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) won her primary, as did radio host Aaron Flint, the Montana Republican hoping to succeed retiring Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.), another former Interior secretary.

Major races in California have yet to be called, including the gubernatorial primary.

Haaland beat her main opponent, Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman, by at last 40 percentage points. She now advances to the November general election, where she has an edge above former Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull, who won the GOP primary.
