Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman will lead the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries, a panel with jurisdiction over western water issues and wildlife conservation.

Committee Chair Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) announced Thursday that Hageman will replace Rep. Cliff Bentz (R-Ore.) atop the subcommittee, which will also have new Democratic leadership after Rep. Jared Huffman’s (D-Calif.) ascension to the full committee’s ranking member post.

Hageman joined the House in 2022 after ousting fellow Republican Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who caught intense flak from her party for serving on the select committee to investigate the Jan. 6th attack on the Capitol.
