Federal Highway Administration chief Shailen Bhatt, who was a key play in the Biden administration’s infrastructure campaign, has left the agency and taken a job with an engineering firm.
Bhatt took a job as chief operating officer for the U.S. and Latin America with Montreal-based AtkinsRéalis, according to his Linkedin profile. His resignation was effective Sept. 10, and he’s been replaced by his deputy, Kristin White, the FHWA said in a statement.
As administrator of the FHWA, Bhatt oversaw about 2,700 people and had his hands in several facets of transportation and infrastructure, including conventional highway spending, electrical vehicle charging and emergency repairs across the country.
He also kept track of technological trends, including the rise of self-driving vehicles and artificial intelligence.
