A House Energy and Commerce Committee will question witnesses this week on how major environmental laws may be preventing the nation from dominating key supply chains.
A statement from Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) and Environment Subcommittee Chair Gary Palmer (R-Ala.) said the session would focus on laws like the the Clean Air Act and the Toxic Substances Control Act.
“America cannot lead the development of new technologies if we cannot produce the chemicals and critical materials that our businesses depend on,” said Guthrie and Palmer.
“Our nation’s environmental laws were written for a different era, and now, it’s essential that we address the burdensome and unworkable regulations that are jeopardizing the ability of our nation’s manufacturers to create jobs,” the lawmakers said.
