Two Trump administration officials tasked with helping Elon Musk slash the federal government have taken on roles close to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s office, according to agency documents and current and former department staff.
The Interior Department also has named Stephanie Holmes as its new top human resources officer, apparently the same official who has been identified by The New York Times, ProPublica and Wired as the lead HR expert at Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency.
Interior declined to respond to questions about the DOGE staff assigned to it, while the White House likewise refused to respond to questions about the trio of staffers.
But in a memorandum dated Feb. 24 and published Friday, Interior identified Holmes as a senior adviser to Burgum. Holmes is “exercising the delegated authority of the Chief Human Capital Officer” at the 70,000-person agency, according to the document.
