The House approved legislation Monday meant to accelerate the approval of broadband infrastructure on public lands.

The “Expediting Federal Broadband Deployment Reviews Act,” H.R. 1681, from Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Colo.), would mandate a “strike force” of federal land management agencies to make broadband permitting more efficient. The bill passed 384-9.

“It’s 2026,” Evans said. “Reliable high speed internet should not be considered a luxury. It’s a necessity.”
