Democratic lawmakers joined jilted scientists Tuesday to highlight the Trump administration’s gutting of federal research grants, including funding from EPA.

The gathering on Capitol Hill featured a Nobel Prize winner, roughly 30 scientists and a pair of Virginia lawmakers whose districts contain numerous federal science workers.

“For so long, our great nation has been the envy of the world when it comes to scientific innovation, technology, Nobel Prize winners,” said Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.). “Now, our leadership is at risk.”
