Companies racing to produce rare earths in the U.S. will appear in the House this week amid growing tensions with China, which dominates the flow of the valuable chemical elements.

Executives from U.S. Critical Materials, a rare earth exploration and development company, and Rare Element Resources, which is developing a rare earth mine in Wyoming, will appear before the House Committee on Small Business, chaired by Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas).

Rare earths are a set of elements needed for defense and energy technology, including electric vehicles and renewable energy sources.
