House lawmakers to question Interior inspector general

Members of the House’s top investigative panel plan to probe the group that oversees internal watchdogs across the federal government.

The House Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce will hold a hearing Tuesday to examine the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency.

“Transparency and efficiency within CIGIE are critical to supporting inspector general offices’ ability to carry out their duties and responsibilities to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse,” said Chair Pete Sessions (R-Texas).

“It is important that Congress examines the top management and performance challenges identified by the IG community and assesses CIGIE’s progress in addressing those challenges.”
