Two House committees will mark up bills this week that seek to support nuclear energy and bolster domestic supply chains for critical infrastructure, among other items. The bills up for a vote this week enjoy bipartisan support.

On Wednesday, the Financial Services Committee will take up H.R. 1474, the “International Nuclear Energy Financing Act,” sponsored by Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) and Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.).

The bill has been introduced several times in the past but has failed to become law. It would require the U.S. representative at the World Bank to advocate for the financing of nuclear energy projects and urge the creation of an international nuclear energy trust fund.

“For years, we have listened to calls for climate action, yet have seen little action,” said Hill in a 2023 release for a previous iteration of the bill.
