House Republican advocate for land sales announces retirement

Rep. Mark Amodei, a Nevada Republican known for his mining, public lands and disaster recovery policy chops, will retire at the end of his current term.

A senior member of the House Natural Resources and Appropriations committees, Amodei announced Friday that he will leave Congress after more than 15 years in office.

“Serving the people of Nevada has been the honor of my lifetime,” Amodei said in a statement. “Nobody is prouder of our Nevada Congressional District than me. Thank you for the honor.”

He continued: “I came to Congress to solve problems and to make sure our State and Nation have [a] strong voice in the federal policy and oversight processes.”
