Energy and Commerce Committee lawmakers will discuss the expected boom in power demand caused by artificial intelligence operations and how suppliers can meet the surge.

The Energy Subcommittee hearing continues Republicans’ early focus on supply and demand in the early days of the 119th Congress. Both the Energy and Commerce and Oversight committees have already held two hearings related to energy reliability this year.

Despite bipartisan consensus about the need for more power, the hearing will likely display deep disagreements between the parties on how to address it.
