The House will take up legislation this week to add another site to the National Park System, advance a new museum on the National Mall in Washington and approve a land and mineral ownership swaps in North Dakota.
H.R. 1352, from Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Va.), would make the General George C. Marshall House in Leesburg, Virginia, as a unit of the National Park System.
The historic site is named for the architect of the Marshall Plan, a U.S. aid program that supported European economic recovery after World War II. Marshall served as Defense secretary and secretary of State under former President Harry Truman.
H.R. 1329, from Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and a bipartisan group of co-sponsors, would allow a Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum to be located on the National Mall in Washington.
