Senate committees are looking to advance nominees this week for the Department of Agriculture and federal mine safety agencies.
The Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will vote on Wayne Palmer to lead the Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration.
Palmer, once a top aide to former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), has served in several positions during the first and second Trump administration, including as acting head of MSHA. He was also an executive at the Essential Minerals Association, a pro-mining group.
The committee will vote on Marco Rajkovich to remain a member of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission. The panel adjudicates disputes from MSHA.
