House Natural Resources ranking member Jared Huffman has tapped former White House aide Ana Unruh Cohen as staff director, his first major hire since securing the position in December.
An experienced Washington climate hand, Cohen was most recently President Joe Biden’s senior director for the National Environmental Policy Act, clean energy and infrastructure at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
Before that, she was the majority staff director for the Democratic House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis during the 117th Congress.
Cohen will now step back into a top congressional staff role that will be key in trying to preserve President Joe Biden’s climate legacy from President-elect Donald Trump and a GOP-controlled Congress.
