Senate Republicans said Tuesday they would keep pushing for more changes to energy tax provisions in their megabill, with some expressing concern about the legislation’s slashing of incentives for certain power sources.
Text released by the Senate Finance Committee on Monday singled out solar and wind power for a rapid phase-down of federal subsidies beginning next year.
Residential solar, battery and electric vehicle credits would be gone 180 days after the bill is signed into law. Finance also included provisions to prohibit the use of Chinese equipment and add a domestic content bonus structure.
As they rush to complete the bill on an ambitious, self-imposed deadline, multiple Republican senators told POLITICO’s E&E News they were looking to ensure clean energy projects already underway would not be cut off.
