President Donald Trump’s nominees to oversee national parks, wildlife refuges and the U.S. territories at the Interior Department are getting confirmation hearings this week.
The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Environment and Public Works Committee will both question Kevin Lilly, a Texas investment manager, to become assistant Interior secretary for fish and wildlife.
Lilly has been identified as the nominee for the assistant secretary for fish and wildlife, although the official title has long been assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks.
The former Army officer has served in the role in an acting capacity since last summer, making him a wide target for Democrats angry about the Trump administration’s cuts to staff and the president’s pet projects, including plans for a triumphal arch and work on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
