President Donald Trump relied on a team of veterans of his first administration to prepare the Interior Department for his second term.
Trump’s Interior transition team included former senior officials, energy industry experts and a former aide to then-North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, according to a list of transition team members released under the Freedom of Information Act.
The Trump administration did not publicly release Interior’s transition team roster as the handover from the Biden administration occurred, and some of the names have not been previously reported.
Some of those transition team members have stayed on as political appointees at Interior, while others could be in line for future appointments inside Interior or elsewhere in the Trump administration.
