Johnson trumpets plans to cut climate law, agencies

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday afternoon promised to cut the Democrats’ climate law, ramp domestic energy production and slash the federal workforce should Republicans win big next month.

In a speech at the New York Stock Exchange, the Louisiana Republican revealed his sprawling yet thin-on-details plan for the first 100 days under full Republican control in 2025.

In addition to chiding Biden administration energy policies and promising to cut the federal workforce, Johnson said he would slash the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act.

Last month, in an interview to coincide with remarks at the America First Policy Institute, Johnson suggested Republicans could keep some green energy tax subsidies. The issue has been dividing moderates and the GOP’s right flank for months.
