As Sen. Jon Tester gears up for a tough reelection fight, he is feuding with Republicans’ campaign arm over, of all things, the car he drives.

The spat centers on the Montana Democrat’s choice to drive a Toyota Prius, a hybrid vehicle. This week, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has been relentlessly mocking him as a “swamp creature” in an apparent attempt to paint the native Montanan as out of touch with the folks back home.

Tester hasn’t taken kindly to the criticism. “What a bunch of jackasses,” he told HuffPost on Monday.
