The BlueGreen Alliance, a coalition of labor unions and environmental groups, is formally backing President Joe Biden for reelection.

The group had not endorsed any presidential candidate prior to supporting Biden in the 2020 election. Back then, they cited his substantial campaign promises to fight climate change while boosting unions, union jobs and union organizing.

“We’re endorsing him again in 2024 because he proved to be a man of his word,” Jason Walsh, BlueGreen’s executive director, said Thursday in rolling out the endorsement alongside representatives of many of the alliance’s members such as the United Steelworkers and the NRDC Action Fund.

“The decision to endorse President Biden for reelection was one of the easiest decisions we’ve ever made,” Walsh said. “On the one hand, Joe Biden is the most pro-worker, pro-climate president we’ve ever had. His leadership is delivering for union workers in the environment, and he is ready to continue the fight for the second term.”
