The House and Senate are executing a two-tiered strategy to get bipartisan nuclear energy legislation to the president’s desk as soon as possible.

In the House, lawmakers are trying to get the package passed on the floor as part of a noncontroversial bill that’s already cleared the Senate.

And in the Senate, supporters are hoping to get the same bill attached as an amendment to a reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Whether the strategy works remains to be seen, though lawmakers are optimistic. “I think I feel pretty good about it,” said Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), chair of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Climate and Grid Security.
