A good government research group that champions federal civil service employees is now suffering alongside them under a second Trump administration..
The Partnership for Public Service laid off more than one-quarter of its workforce Friday, President and CEO Max Stier wrote in a LinkedIn post, adding that the group’s nonpartisan work is “now under grave threat.”
“The new administration has upended a 140-year consensus that our civil service system should be apolitical and merit-based, and that government power should only be wielded for the public good,” Stier added.
While a partnership spokesperson declined to comment Monday beyond Stier’s statement, another employee said the group’s workforce had been in the neighborhood of 150, meaning that at least several dozen lost their jobs.
