A political action committee led by Lee Zeldin continued to raise money after President-elect Donald Trump picked him to be his nominee for EPA administrator, raising potential ethics concerns.
Leadership America Needs brought in more than $13,500 in the two weeks after Trump announced his intent to nominate Zeldin, federal disclosures released Thursday show. It also spent about $59,000 in that time period.
Zeldin launched the PAC in 2023, following his unsuccessful but surprisingly close challenge to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), with a goal of reaching groups of voters with whom the Republican Party had not typically held strong ties.
