The Bureau of Land Management’s Nevada state office director confirmed he will exit the agency at the end of April, closing out a 37-year career in the federal government.
Jon Raby, who took over the Reno-based office in 2019, told POLITICO’s E&E News he is retiring after a long career that spanned multiple agencies and numerous states.
“What’s really driving my decision is family,” Raby said Tuesday, detailing his desire to spend time with his parents, his children and grandchildren.
Although the Interior Department is in the midst of a reorganization, an effort that began when President Donald Trump returned to office last year, Raby said those changes did not influence his decision.
