Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chair Joe Manchin suggested Tuesday his big permitting overhaul package was just about ready for public consumption.
At a hearing on electricity demand, the West Virginia Democrat was emphatic that the permitting draft package he’s been working on with Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), the committee’s ranking member, was just about ready to be dropped off on lawmakers’ desks.
“We finally have language,” Manchin said. “And maybe we can finally get our act together.”
But afterward, a Barrasso aide who was granted anonymity to speak freely clarified the deal isn’t done — and that the work is ongoing.
