Pennsylvania Republican Rep. John Joyce introduced legislation Thursday that would undo a 2013 federal waiver that allowed California to impose stricter pollution standards for vehicles.
The legislation is the latest attack in the Republican onslaught against federal EPA waivers for California air pollution rules dating as far back as the Obama administration.
Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) introduced a similar resolution late last week, and two more could be coming from Rep. James Gallagher (R-Calif.) as soon as next week, according to a person familiar with the situation, granted anonymity to share nonpublic information.
The Republican-controlled Congress last year repealed three Biden-era waivers for California rules that GOP lawmakers said amounted to an electric vehicle mandate. The Trump administration now wants to scrap four more waivers.
