Two more unoccupied beach houses have collapsed into the ocean at Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina.
Law enforcement rangers believe the houses collapsed Friday, bringing the total number of houses that have fallen this year to four. Nine have been dragged to sea in the past four years.
Officials are warning visitors to avoid the water and wear hard-soled shoes to protect themselves from debris like wood and nails. Pieces of the homes have been spotted 20 miles south of the side, a spokesperson said.
Officials believe a house on G. A. Kohler Court in Rodanthe collapsed early Friday morning, sending debris out to sea and causing damage to the second house next door. That house then collapsed later in the day.
