EPA has given administrative authority and decision-making power in its chemicals office to former chemical industry lobbyist Nancy Beck.
Beck has been promoted from adviser to “principal deputy assistant administrator, performing delegated duties as the assistant administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention,” according to an update Wednesday to the office’s webpage.
The move gives Beck authority that was previously assigned to Rick Keigwin, a career staffer who has worked for EPA since 1990. Keigwin is still listed online as the deputy assistant administrator for management.
The White House has yet to announce a nominee for the assistant administrator post, which requires Senate confirmation.
