The National Parks Conservation Association has tapped a new lead for advocacy, following the departure earlier this year of its top, in-house lobbyist.
Ed Stierli was announced last week as the organization’s new vice president of government affairs, a critical post for the influential group’s deal-making in Washington at a time when parks have faced major changes under the Trump administration.
The post is one of several internal shuffles of the group’s leadership over the last year and comes at a time when NPCA has become a leading critic of the Trump administration’s efforts to cut staff and programs at national parks.
Stierli is a “tested leader and ideally suited” to face this era for parks, said Tiernan Sittenfeld, NPCA’s president and CEO, in a statement.
