ALBANY, New York — New York’s energy agency announced its latest regular request for new large-scale solar and wind projects Friday.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority released its regular solicitation for projects that will get ratepayer subsidies once they’re built as developers and policymakers try to ramp up construction to ensure eligibility for expiring federal tax credits.
“We’re going to focus on project viability, speed to market … as well as the ways in which they can keep costs down for ratepayers by virtue of leveraging those federal tax credits that are expiring,” said NYSERDA President and CEO Doreen Harris.
But the authority kept in place a restriction preventing projects that recently secured contracts from participating, despite warnings from an industry group that the decision will kill some projects.
