President Donald Trump’s pick to run the Federal Transit Administration promised Thursday to keep money flowing to state and local projects, despite the administration’s high-profile disputes with subway and rail operators around the country.
Marcus Molinaro, a former one-term House member from New York, got a warm welcome during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee
“I am confident that he will propose common-sense, pragmatic solutions to the agency, ensure that our mass transit is effective and safe, and connect communities with new opportunities — especially new housing opportunities for all Americans,” said Chair Tim Scott (R-S.C.).
Transit spending was one of the pillars of the Biden administration’s plan to address climate change and create domestic jobs. The bipartisan infrastructure law, which runs until fiscal 2026, poured $108 billion into buses, rail and other mass transit projects.
