NPS names new superintendents for Arizona, Georgia parks

The agency said it has tapped two longtime veterans, Scott Stonum and Melissa Trenchik, for new assignments that will begin in April.

Two new superintendents are set to begin their jobs next month at Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia and Saguaro National Park in Arizona.

Scott Stonum will take over at the Arizona site April 7, the National Park Service said Friday.

In a separate announcement Thursday, the park service said Melissa Trenchik will start her new assignment in Georgia on April 21, leading both the national seashore and Fort Frederica National Monument.

Trenchik, who joined the agency in 2013, currently serves as chief of resource stewardship, science, interpretation and education at Buffalo National River.
