Simon Mui is moving to Rainier Climate, a new group that aims to fuel projects that slash emissions.

Transportation policy expert Simon Mui has stepped down from the Natural Resources Defense Council to join a new climate philanthropy.

Mui recently left his role as managing director of transportation at NRDC, where he has worked in a variety of roles since 2008. He’s starting at Rainier Climate as the transportation program director, he said on LinkedIn.

Rainier Climate is a new philanthropic climate group launched in 2024 by Connie, Steve and Sam Ballmer. Steve Ballmer is the former CEO of Microsoft, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers and a longtime friend of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum dating back to their days at Stanford business school. Connie and Steve Ballmer are also co-founders of the philanthropic Ballmer Group.
