The Senate is slated to vote on a bipartisan nuclear energy package Tuesday, all but guaranteeing final passage more than a year after it was first introduced.

Senate leaders on Monday teed up debate and a final vote on S. 870, the “Fire Grants and Safety Act.” The bill would reauthorize federal firefighter programs and includes the nuclear package known as the “ADVANCE Act.”

A compromise between the House Energy and Commerce and Senate Environment and Public Works committees, the “Accelerating Deployment of Versatile, Advanced Nuclear for Clean Energy Act” has sweeping bipartisan support.
