The House Armed Services Committee could consider numerous energy and environment amendments during a marathon markup of its annual defense policy bill Tuesday.

The House’s version of the fiscal 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, unveiled Friday, includes several provisions that would support environmental remediation. It also seeks to provide a significant boost to the Pentagon’s adoption of advanced nuclear energy.

Across the Capitol, the Senate Armed Services Committee last week advanced its own version of the NDAA on a 26-1 vote. A summary of the legislation reveals a similar prioritization of advanced nuclear — especially small modular reactors. The full text will likely be released later this year.
