The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee will vote this week on a series of ocean and coastal management bills.

On the docket is S. 2126, the “Integrated Ocean Observation System Reauthorization Act,” from Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and ranking member Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), which would re-up the interagency network of ocean and coastal monitoring programs.

“Reauthorizing this funding would continue the necessary ocean monitoring resources and improve our understanding of needs along the coast. This legislation would help secure U.S. leadership in ocean science and increase economic development,” Wicker said in a June statement.
