Oversight Committee to examine ‘rightsizing’ government

The Trump administration has embarked on an aggressive effort to shrink the federal workforce.

House Republicans plan to dig into the growth — or shrinking — of the federal government this week.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday will hold a hearing titled “Rightsizing Government.” It follows another hearing on telework.

This week’s session comes as the Trump administration embarks on an aggressive effort to shrink the federal workforce via a variety of ways — including the president’s call for mass resignations.

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the panel’s chair, said in a statement that the bureaucracy “has ballooned to an unmanageable size.”
