The House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday advanced bipartisan bills focused on nuclear energy financing and agricultural land deals.

An amended version of the “International Nuclear Energy Financing Act,” H.R. 1474, sponsored by Chair French Hill (R-Ark.), got a 39-10 vote.

It would encourage the creation of a trust fund for nuclear energy assistance at the World Bank and other international financial institutions. It would also require the Treasury Department to advocate for more streamlined international collaboration on nuclear energy issues.

The committee approved an amendment from Rep. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) that would ensure the United States only advocates for the lifting of restrictions on nuclear energy financing for projects that “meet or exceed the quality standards of the United States or our allied nations.” It passed by voice vote.
