House appropriators approved a spending proposal for military installations and veterans issues Tuesday, advancing fresh funding for chemical cleanups and climate resilience.

The Appropriations Committee passed its fiscal 2027 Military Construction-Veterans Affairs bill with a rare unanimous vote. Lawmakers found agreement on a number of topics — including advance funding for veterans harmed by toxic burn pits — but clashed on some others, such as President Donald Trump’s proposed triumphal arch.

The bill is the first fiscal 2027 spending measure to advance out of committee. The panel will finish a markup of the Financial Services-General Government bill Wednesday morning.

House appropriators are also set to unveil the next two spending bills Wednesday: Agriculture-FDA and State-Foreign Operations. Both of those measures will have a subcommittee markup Thursday.
