A House panel will hold a hearing this week to evaluate federal efforts to promote building codes that can withstand natural disasters.
The Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management hearing will focus on Federal Emergency Management Agency policies, a spokesperson said.
Lawmakers will specifically focus on how FEMA has implemented mandates in disaster response statutes, the committee spokesperson said. Nobody from the agency is planning to appear.
The panel is led by Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry, a former Freedom Caucus chair and ardent skeptic of mainstream climate change science.
