Panel to mark up minerals, energy, fisheries bills

The House Natural Resources Committee will vote on a list of bills this week, including some bipartisan measures tied to fisheries and the permitting of critical mineral and geothermal projects.

The panel on Tuesday will take up H.R. 1501, the “Protect Domestic Mining Act,” from Republican Reps. Jefferson Shreve of Indiana and Blake Moore of Utah.

The bill would would scrap Biden-era limitations on which mineral projects can be considered for expedited permitting under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.

“It ensures critical mining projects can quickly receive the necessary permits and establish our nation as a prominent leader in energy production,” said Shreve about the bill.
