White House climate adviser John Podesta suggested Tuesday that permitting legislation could come together on Capitol Hill after the November elections.
Podesta spoke at an event hosted by the group Third Way about the Biden administration’s efforts to promote a clean energy economy — including easing environmental reviews and building out the electric grid.
“We’ve been clear that we think there is more work we think Congress should do” on permitting and transmission, he said, adding, “We’ll continue to dialogue with them.”
The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee approved legislation last month from Chair Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) and ranking member John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) that includes provisions on both renewables and fossil fuels.
