Regan to Congress: ‘America needs a strong EPA’

EPA Administrator Michael Regan warned lawmakers against gutting his agency as a potential second Trump administration looms.

Regan on Wednesday made his first appearance before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, where Republican lawmakers pressed him on a number of EPA regulations targeting heavy industry.

But Democratic members on the panel took the opportunity to defend the agency that has been bolstered by the Biden administration with billions in supplemental funding.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the committee’s ranking member, asked Regan about Project 2025, a plan crafted by several conservative organizations for the next Republican president to downsize the federal government, including EPA.
