Regulatory think tank announces new leader

The Institute for Policy Integrity will likely be a critical voice during the deregulatory push of the incoming Trump administration.

The Institute for Policy Integrity named Don Goodson as its next executive director.

The nonpartisan think tank, based at New York University School of Law, delves into economics, law and regulations, producing influential analysis about how costs and benefits of pollution standards are weighed, including those that address climate change.

The organization will likely be a critical voice of the incoming Trump administration as the president-elect seeks to pull back a number of environmental regulations.

The institute has taken stock of regulatory moves across administrations. In an analysis published earlier this year, it found courts only ruled for the first Trump administration in 31.2 percent of challenges to major regulations, in contrast to 55.9 percent in former President Barack Obama’s second term.
