The Interior Department’s top watchdog will be a key witness when a House panel on Thursday turns another spotlight on unruly demonstrations on National Park Service property.

The Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations hearing will focus on a July 24 protest held several blocks from the Capitol at Union Station.

The National Park Service issued a public gathering permit for a group that wanted to protest the appearance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The group, calling itself the ANSWER Coalition, sought to draw attention to the thousands of civilian deaths associated with the Israeli war against Hamas in Gaza.
